Just a reminder for our Wine and Cheese event that is coming up on Wednesday, November the 14th @ 7 pm, at

the Wave. Its going to be a great way of networking and meeting professors and potential graduate students. To top it off

you get FREE wine and cheese ( WPA members only). Non-members are invited as well!! You just pay $10, which

includes admission to the event and WPA membership. Come out and join us next wednesday for a great evening!!

First Year Representative Postion

Every year the WPA selects 2 first year psych students to represent first years on the executive team. These reps promote WPA events to other first years, help organize and run events, and gain the experience of working on a busy, dynamic team. If you are a first year psychology student and would like to apply for the 1st year rep position, email Kate Barnes and Korey Nyp (kbarnes7@uwo.ca; knyp@uwo.com). Include in your email who you are, what you’d like to do in psychology (it’s OK if you don’t have an answer to that yet!), and why you’d like to be a part of the Psychology Association exec team. Please keep answers to less than 300 words.

On Thursday October 18, 2012, Ryerson will be holding two exciting events for potential applicants to the MA and PhD programs in Psychology at Ryerson University.

Psychological Science Lab Tours (Thursday October 18, 2012, 4:30 – 6:00 pm)
This event provides potential applicants to our Psychological Science program with an opportunity to visit our labs, interact with faculty, and meet with students currently enrolled in our MA and PhD programs in Psychological Science. Four core areas that will be highlighted include Brain, Perception, and Cognition; Community and Health; Lifespan Development; and Social Psychology. Graduate Program Open House and Information Session (Thursday October 18, 2012, 6:10 – 8:30 pm)

After the presentation, there will be an opportunity to meet informally with faculty members and current graduate students. Refreshments will be served. Psychology Colloquium Series

The Psychology department has announced the schedule and list of speakers for the 2012-13 Psychology Colloquium series. See the website below for further information. Students may take a particular interest in the Dr. Michael Norton (Harvard Business School) talk entitled “Money and Happiness, Giving and Getting.” Topics range from neuroscience to personality to cognition; there really is something for everyone! Talks are free and usually followed by refreshments, questions, and a chance to meet the speaker.

All talks will be held in UCC 37 on Fridays at 3pm unless otherwise noted on the website. Bring a friend – we hope to see you there!
